APTET 2013 to be conducted on February 9, 2014

AP Teachers Eligibility Test is likely to be conducted on February 9.  Government has given green

signal for conducting the test on February 9.  The test was scheduled to be conducted in September

last year but was postponed due to agitations.

Hyderabad: Department of school education announced that AP TET will be conducted on February 9.

Government has given green signal to conduct the test in February.  A total of 4.49 lakh candidates

are expected to appear for the test.  School education department sent proposals to the government

to conduct the exam on December 22 or December 29, 2013 but government has not taken any decision

then.  The date was then changed to January but no decision was taken due to the situations in the

state.

Candidates were waiting since one year for TET. It was scheduled to be conducted in September last

year.   more than four lakh candidates applied for the test and they paid Rs. 10 crore online as

exam fee.  Many candidates are depending on TET to get teacher’s job which is their dream.

Many private schools are refusing to take candidates who do not have TET as teachers.  TET is being

considered necessary to teach even for primary classes.  Though such candidates are recruited, they

are paid from Rs. 3 to 5 lakhs.  There are nearly four lakh candidates in Andhra Pradesh who are

dependent on teachers’s jobs. Few candidates who want to get a government job are also appearing for

the test.  Among the candidates who applied for TET, more than one lakh are women candidates.

results of APTET will be announced two weeks after the exam.

However, government has not taken any decision on DSC examination.  Usually TET results are released

before issuing notification for DSC.  General elections 2014 notification is expected to be released

in the last week of February or first week of March, 2014 and the government will be released DSC

notification before the announcement.

Teachers Eligibility Test – TET is conducted for candidates who want to become teachers for Class I

to VIII in government, mandal parishad, municipality, zilla parishad and private aided schools in

the state.  AP TET 2013 notification was given last year but the test was postponed due to

agitations in the state because of Congress working committee decision to bifurcate the state. The

test will be conducted in 1975 canters in the state. it will consist of two papers. – NEW
